According to reports, Pakistan's Election Commission has
issued a letter to the government requesting that the agency acquire more than
800,000 electronic voting machines (EVMs) in order to organise the next
elections using current technology.
The Election Commission, on the other hand, requires 3 acres
of land for EVM storage.
The ECP, according to the letter, required a facility to
house a control centre, data centre, cutting-edge lab, printing, and training
sessions on how to use technology and make elections more transparent.
The Planning Commission of the Ministry of Parliamentary
Affairs has not issued money for the construction of the building, and time has
been squandered due to the delay in funding for critical infrastructure.
The Planning Commission should release funds for the
construction of the building in Sector H11, the Ministry of Housing and Works
should take steps on a priority basis for the construction of the building, and
the warehouse should not be constructed on time, according to a letter to be
written by the Election Commission.
In light of the
issue, the government should set aside space in one of its buildings.
According to reports, the Election Commission has requested
that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs bring the situation to the attention
of the appropriate authorities, and the government has recommended allocating
two floors in the Kohsar block for electronic voting equipment storage.
